The Tirana Coat of Arms, also known as the Emblem of the Municipality of Tirana or the Shield of Tirana, is the city emblem of Tirana.

History

The Emblem of the Municipality was approved by the City Council no. 215, with November 14 2000. Under it is a Skurajve emblem, which is the family that ruled Tirana in the Middle Ages, the 14th and 15th centuries. One of the tracks found by the family in the area at the foot of Mount Dajti is the emblem of Skurajve that was found in a block of stone and is now located in the National Historical Museum in Tirana. The Clock Tower, which is the most significant monument of of the city's recent centuries, has served as a symbol and reference point for the city of Tirana, which was founded in 1614, for all its residents' two hundred years. In the city's emblem includes a crown with three towers, located over the shield, which is a symbol common to all the emblems of cities.[1]
